Mitt Romney's prospects of becoming the first Mormon president have received a lot of ink.
But Connecticut Sen. Chris Dodd (a catholic) has said he is considering an '08 White House run. That means his wife, Jackie Clegg, could become the country's first Mormon First Lady. (Easy polygamy joke of the day: Who knows when there might be a Mormon Second Lady or Third Lady?)
According to an item in The Hill, a Washington newspaper that covers Congress, Utah Sen. Bob Bennett recently told a story about how Dodd joked that "At Bob Jones University, we are now a two-cult family." Bob Jones is a flagship school for evangelicals, some of whom consider Mormons and Catholics, like Dodd, to be cultists.

Ah, Mitt. Personally I think Reid has a better shot -- a large part of the Democratic base doesn't think he belongs to a cult. One of Mitt's sons now works for the Dodgers, they trotted him out for the kickoff meeting for Mormon Dodger Night this year. It will be interesting watching him try to win the Republican nomination. George Allen is most likely out, I'm not sure about Giuliani but his checkered legal past (and present) would haunt his candidacy. Jeb Bush? Nah, too much, too soon. So maybe Mitt does have a chance. Wouldn't it be great, though, to see Reid v. Romney? I think that'd get the entire state of Utah spinning like a top...
