We had snacks at a friendly little deli in Chelsea. The signs read, in order:

Due to lack of Seatings: 20 Minutes Max
NO Self Service: $2.50
Hot Soup of the Day: NO SOUP

Needless to say, we served ourselves at the salad bar, didn't have soup, and hung out at our table for a full hour.

After that, we headed back to the Strand bookstore, which we visited every day.
